Department of Ophthalmology
Our department of ophthalmology comprises a 15-bed recognized facility with one of the most qualified faculty including a professor, assistant professor, senior registrar, registrar and a senior medical officer. We have a fully equipped and functional out-patient department, which receives patients with different ophthalmic problems. The laser room facility is equipped with state-of-the art argon laser machine for different renal laser procedures.
We have a surgical block of two operation theatres, each for major and minor surgical procedures respectively. Our surgeons proficiently carry out a variety of procedures, including anterior and posterior segments of the eye with remarkable expertise. Our academic program for undergraduates includes lectures, tutorials and clinical rotations to give them a comprehensive knowledge of the subject and patient care. Ward and operation theatre rotations for students are organized to give them a deeper understanding of various diagnostic and surgical methods. Our eye department has a long history of providing outstanding care for our patients, conducting collaborative research, and educating the next generation of ophthalmologists.
We are proud that our program is recognized as one of the finest ophthalmology training centers in the country. There is a steady flow of patients, the faculty are readily accessible, intellectual curiosity is vigorous and encouraged, and research is active in many areas. The department provides an environment that fosters not only intellectual curiosity and collaboration but also a commitment to teaching and patient care. Our broad patient referral base, including all of Lahore and the neighboring cities, provides an extensive and formidable source for eye pathology from which everyone can learn.
At CPTH, we encourage online educational materials, which are internally peer-reviewed, as an adjunctive way for residents and fellows to share case reports, surgical videos, and discussions. Our departmental philosophy toward patient care is another example of its commitment toward residency training. Residents, fellows, and faculty work side by side to evaluate and care for the same patients. The faculty is committed to the philosophy that clinical acumen and surgical excellence cannot occur without expert teaching and supervision.
