Department of Forensic Medicine

The Department of Forensic Medicine aims to impart up-to-date education on forensic medicine to train the future generation of forensic scientists. The department offers a great opportunity for students to get trained for conducting post-mortem and medico-legal examinations, techniques for the detection of poisons, and trace evidence materials under the close supervision of competent professionals.
The broad goal of the teaching of undergraduate students in Forensic Medicine is to produce a physician who is well informed about medicolegal responsibilities in practice of medicine. The students acquire knowledge of law in relation to medical practice, medical negligence and respect for code of medical ethics.

The department has a museum containing a variety of teaching materials like pictures & models showing various forms of violence, weapons of assault, autopsy instruments and poisons. The department also includes a toxicology and serology lab present in the department.
